Job opportunity - research Assistant
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position encompassing laboratory and field research and management responsibilities, supporting projects that link microbial biodiversity and function to soil health in Kansas grazing lands and midwestern croplands (50%), and to water quality in non-perennial streams in Kansas and beyond (50%). The successful candidate will join an active and collaborative research team, will work closely with graduate students, undergraduate students, and postdocs on multiple projects, and will be eligible for co-authorship on publications and reports. The position is funded by grants from USDA, NSF, and DOE, with three years of currently committed salary.
Job duties will include approximately 70% laboratory support of sample preparation, processing, and data analysis, 20% laboratory management, and 10% fieldwork. Abilities to effectively communicate, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage data, are preferred. Experience running laboratory assays is also preferred, with the understanding that specific protocols are trainable. Starting salary will be commensurate upon education and experience, with annual increases based on satisfactory performance.
